Motta Perez' contribution, a vibrant violet rug, crafted in silk and wool, offers an artistic rendering of the effervescence of bubbles. The rugs are dramatic in scale and using Tai Ping's signature sculpting technique.
Born and raised in Tuscany, Miami-based Rita Motta Perez studied architecture and interior design then went on to learn furniture-making, drawing on the centuries-long tradition of Italian cabinet-makers. Furniture, interiors, jewellery, pillows, carpets, wallpaper and whimsical playhouses are the canvases on which she expresses her design aesthetic — a mix of the classical and modern with an eye to the fanciful.
Motta-Perez’s aptly-named Bubbles collection for Tai Ping includes a series of vibrant rugs that present an artistic interpretation of effervescent bubbles. The rugs are dramatic in scale and showcase Tai Ping’s signature sculpting technique.
