Celebrating nine decades of artistry, The Fifth Wall is a tribute to New York City - a city of contradictions where untamed vegetation bursts through concrete, street culture pulsates beneath a skyline of straight lines and right angles, and raw, industrial textures give way to lush, organic parks.
This duality is at the heart of The Fifth Wall, a special new edition that celebrates the 90th anniversary of Edward Fields Carpet Makers. Founded in 1935, Edward Fields is proud to call the electric, artistic hub of New York City its home. The eight carpets that comprise this collection tell twin stories of the company’s past and the city that shaped it.
The designers first sketched by hand in gouache, collage, and colored pencil methods that defined Edward Fields’ earliest works. They then hand-tufted using artisanal skills that the brand has championed since its conception. The Fifth Wall melds past and present, structure and fluidity. Layer after layer, it nods to the ever-evolving innovation and resilience of its birthplace and muse: New York City.
